What makes this "not my grandmother's game?" 

• • Yes, we like to win, but it's about being together, we can get kinda loud, and we just wanna have fun playing the game we love. There isn't the pressure of a tournament, but rather a great way to play with new people.

Do you play with blanks and tapping? 

• • Nope, that's a table rule. We play NMJL (National Mah Jongg League) rules.

Is this Chinese, American or Wright-Patterson? 

• • It's considered American.

Do you supply the mah jongg card? 

• • Nope, you need to bring your own card of the current year.

Do I have to bring my own set? 

• • Nope, sets are provided. Just bring your card and readers if you need 'em.

I've never played before, can I come?

• • Love your enthusiasm! But you need to be at least at the Beginner+ level to join us. Don't fret, I teach! Reach out and let's get you playing so you can be ready for the next season. 

I don't know anyone, can I come? 

• • Yes, please! We'll do our best to create tables with players of similar skill levels.

Are we going to rotate tables? 

• • You'll stay with your original foursome for the afternoon. But we'll switch it up so you have a chance to play with different people each week.

I already have a foursome. Can we come?

• • Yes, of course! You can play as a foursome, or if you'd like you can play with other players. Just let me know which you prefer.

I'm not here all four weeks, can I pay for only the weeks I'm available? 

• • Sorry, we just can't do that. But you're welcome to pay the full registration fee and come for as many weeks as you can.

Darn it, I have to cancel. What do I do? 

• • I can refund your registration fee if you give me 72 hours notice.

Why French Broad River Brewery? 

• • I love supporting local businesses (especially those hit hard by Hurricane Helene). Plus it's a very cool spot with a setup that's perfect for playing mah jongg.

Will you be providing food and drinks? 

• • We'll have plenty of snacks and there are drinks available at the bar. Eventually they will be reopening their pizza business but it's still to come after Hurricane Helene destroyed it. 

Do you teach? 

• • I sure do, but you need at least three people to play, so gather some friends, send me an e-mail, and we'll go from there.
